Bhutan Visa Information
Visitor from all over the world require visa to travel in Bhutan. And the question is How can we obtain visa for Bhutan?
Indian, Bangladeshis and Maldivian citizens can get a permit at the port of entry on producing a valid passport which should be valid at least for six months. Indian citizens can use their Voters Identity Card (VIC)).
Tourists from other countries must obtain a visa clearance prior the travel to Bhutan. We proceed visa through an online system by your licensed Bhutanese tour operator directly or through a foreign travel agent. For this, we need to send the photo copy of your passport to your tour operator who will then apply for your visa.
Our visa will be processed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan (TCB). For this, we need to make a bank transfer of our holiday payment (including a USD $40 visa fee). Once it is received by the TCB bank account, our visa clearance will be processed within 72 working hours.
Now, you will be given a paper visa clearance in which everything term and condition is mentioned. We need to present our visa clearance letter at the entry point of Bhutan and we will get visa stamp in our passport.
How to get Bhutan?
Majority of people who are travelling to Bhutan choose to fly in Bhutan via Paro international airport. Paro is the only international in Bhutan located in the western part of Bhutan. The most easiest and common way of flying to Paro is from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. We get daily flights directly connecting Kathmandu to Paro all round the year. During the flight from Kathmandu to Paro, we can witness spectacular mountain views to the north including Mt. Everest, the top of the world.
We also get flights to Paro, Bhutan from Bangkok, Kolkata, New Delhi, Guhawati, Singapore, Bagdogra and Dhaka. The two airlines Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines operate these flights to Paro. It is also possible to enter Bhutan from India by overland. India offers three international border crossings that the people use to enter Bhutan.
The town of Phuentsoling provides the easiest and the most common way of entering Bhutan. The other two alternatives ways are from Samdrup Jongkhar in southeastern Bhutan and Gelephu in south-central Bhutan.
It is not possible to enter Bhutan from Tibet by flight or overland, because no flight and road connect Tibet to Bhutan.
